Painting Outside the Lines:
The Life of Ruthellen Pollan
Ruthellen Pollan was born in New York City in 1941. She moved to the Four Corners area just as she was turning fifty. There she created and later became the chairman of the art program at the College of Eastern Utah, Blanding Campus.
After being diagnosed with cancer in 2001, she continued to paint from her studio/home atop her prized views of the valleys and mountains. Her paintings are included in collections belonging to galleries, universities, museums, and private corporate collections.
Her work has also hung in the American Consulate in Malaga, Spain and at the Sturm Foundation in Ontario, Canada.
This site is a reflection of her legacy that we honor with the arts foundation scholarship that bears her name and her efforts to honor the rich cultural traditions of her students and neighbors.
